There are many, many types of fencing available now including chain link, wood, aluminum, plastic, PVC to name just a few. All are fences but have differing abilities to do different jobs. A soft plastic roll type fence certainly wouldn’t work, if you are placing a fence up to comprise a 150 pound pit bull. Soft plastic roll fencing or chicken wire fencing may do the job if you are placing a fence up to protect your garden. Determine that will lead your to the types of fencing available for your purpose and what the fence is for. For our example, let’s say we are placing a fence up to protect an in-ground swimming pool. Several fencing sorts will work nicely for this particular program. PVC, steel, wood and chain link all come in high strength stuff. An in-ground pool needs a 48″ high fence minimum in most states and when these types are checked, they all come in that height.

PVC fencing is robust and durable, comes in various heights and provides vertical slats that are satisfactory for a pool fence. PVC fencing has a long life and requires little maintenance other that occasional washing, although high end on the cost scale. This fence has locking other cosmetic accessories that can be put into create a beautiful fenced in place by your pool, finials, corner posts and gates. DIY Self installation? Most skilled homeowners with care and some time can create a nicely finished product and can do this work.

Panels are usually 8′ in length so help will be needed to manage these large bits.

Chain link fencing comes in galvanized (grey), black and green wire colours. Plastic coated sorts can also be available. Chain link comes in rolls that range from 4′ to 12′ wide. Bottom, middle and top railings may be required to support the fencing and keep it straight and taut. A special tool is required to turn these ties. Another special tool called a “come-a-long” is required to elongate the fencing closely between posts before tying.

Different gauges (depth’) of wire are available and you get what you buy. Thin wire kinds may have a shorter life span than heavier wire. This fencing is expensive to purchase or install so invest well for long time use.

Steel or wood Fencing Cheshunt support posts are expected for mounting the fence. This fencing is affordable and considered disposable. Wind does a real mean job on this particular fence and requires high maintenance.
